With a performance history spanning more than two decades, Pearl Django endures as one of the most highly regarded Hot Club style groups working today. Although the band's roots are firmly in the music made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli, its extensive repertoire includes traditional jazz classics and original compositions. Pearl Django has performed at festivals, dances and nightspots throughout the U.S. and abroad. They have played at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois sur Seine and have been featured on NPR's "All Things Considered." The band's signature style is marked by pristine and dexterous string work, colors of Bal Musette, the steady pulse of rhythm guitar and an unmistakable swing that delights audiences of all musical sensibilities. Throughout the years, Pearl Django has cultivated a devoted and enthusiastic following and they continue to play to packed houses wherever they perform.

As we move toward the holidays, we will highlight some unique wine offers as gifts for friends, colleagues or just your cellar. This week we have a few that are perfect for the holiday season. The first is a very special offer for those that love Chateauneuf-du-Pape. We have:
2015 Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge "La Crau" 750ml for $72.25/bottle
2016 Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc "La Crau" 750ml for $68/bottle
Jeb Dunnick's Wine Advocate review of the Rouge is the one that most accurately describes the wine: "The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape is a classic wine from this team that shows the elegance and purity that's the hallmark of the estate. Crushed flowers, lots of salty minerality, black raspberries and spice flow to a medium to full-bodied, layered Châteauneuf du Pape that needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will drink nicely over the following 10-15 years." The Wine Spectator just came in at 95 points, Suckling saw it as a 96 point wine, and The Wine Advocate awarded it a 94. I guess there's not really any new news there for one of the most historic and consistent estates in the original "rocks district". The 2016 Blanc has now received 95 Points from the Wine Spectator.
Please let us know if you would like to order any of these wines by Nov 22, 2017. Wines are scheduled to be shipped before Dec 8, 2017 from Seattle. Please call 253-530-3463 to be sure to get your order in.
Our second offering is from a Washington winery, Force Majeure. Force Majeure specializes in estate-grown, single-vineyard Bordeaux and Rhône-inspired wines. Their wines are meticulously crafted by former Napa Valley cult winery Bryant Family Vineyard Winemaker, Todd Alexander. Their estate vineyard is located in the famous Red Mountain AVA and is painstakingly farmed by a stellar team headed by Dick Boushey. This wines are quite allocated so we are happy to be able to supply them to you.
2014 Force Majeure Estate Syrah from Red Mountain $63.75/bottle 97-99 points Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate
The Force Majeure Estate Syrah is cultivated in a combination of the 8 soil types that exist in their vineyard, with most of it being planted in very steep, very rocky locations, but some also planted in deeper, loamier soils. Fermentation takes place after cold soak in a combination of concrete and stainless steel vats, with some lots in the final blend seeing extended maceration and co-fermentation with Viognier also grown on their site. Élevage is carried out in a combination of new and used French oak barrels and puncheons for +/- 18 months, and the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. The Estate Syrah typically exhibits a broad spectrum of black, blue and red fruits, dried herbs and jasmine, fennel, smoked meats and crushed rock along with very fine tannins, great length, balance and complexity.
Épinette is their Right-bank Bordeaux-inspired blend, and was named after an avenue in Libourne that leads to Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, the home of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc are grown in lower areas of the vineyard with deep, well-drained soils. Before bottling, this wine evolves for approximately 22 months in mostly new French oak, after a long maceration and fermentation in concrete and stainless steel vats.
Orders for Force Majeure received by Nov 16 at 3pm are scheduled for delivery on Nov 17, those orders received by Nov 22 are scheduled for delivery for Nov 24.
