This Week at Morso
This Friday July 21 from 5-7pm we have a very special tasting of wines from Spain. There was a little hiccup in the supplier world and some of these wines are a bit more accessible for tasting. Most notably in our lineup is a wine from Hacienda Monasterio. The wine is made by Peter Sisseck of Pingus fame, considered by some the most influential winemaker of Ribera del Duero. We are also introducing Carol Reutercrona of Noble Wines who will be our go to person from this big portfolio. Please stop in and meet Carol and make her feel welcome to our tasting program. We are featuring this week:
La Guita Manzanilla Sherry
Pazo Senorans 2015 Albarino from Riax Baixas
Herencia Garnachia Negra 2016 Rosato from Terra Alta
Bodega Contador 2013 Tinto Predicdor from Rioja
Hacienda Monasterio 2013 Ribero del Duero Crianza
Mas Doix 2013 Salaquez from the Priorat
There is a $5 fee/person for this tasting event that is applied to the purchase of these wines. Any wines purchased from the tasting may be served without a corkage fee on the night of the tasting.
We are very excited, that as a part of the 2017 Wine and Food Festival, we are holding a winemaker dinner on our patio with Mark Vlossak of St. Innocent Winery from Oregon Friday July 28, 2017 beginning at 6:30 pm. Mark is truly one of the iconic wiinemakers of the Willamette Valley and we are so excited to have him with us. Mark is committed to highlighting the unique terrior of the vineyard sites selected for each of his wines. He feels the terrior expression, "is not found in how big the fruit is or in the sweetness of the oak the wine was aged in. It is mostly expressed in the secondary notes: spicy, floral, earthy, and savory facets. Texture is very important. The way a wine feels on your palate, where you taste it, how it lingers, its density or lightness are all an expression of a specific place."
"Vlossak's dedication to quality and his commitment to delivering value to his customers is exemplary." - The Wine Advocate
