Seattle native Greta Matassa is one of the countries most talented and popular jazz singers. With hints of Ella, Sarah, Billie and Carmen, Greta is increasingly recognized as a unique voice in jazz.
In 2009, Greta Matassa was voted "Northwest Vocalist of the Year" by Earshot Jazz. This marks the sixth time she has received this award in 15 years. Greta's latest cd "I Wanna be Loved" on Resonance Records remained on the national jazz charts for radio airplay for 3 months. This new release features arrangements by Tamir Hendelman. She is surrounded by a host of top LA musicians and string orchestrations.
She has released eight other CD's. Among them are: "The Smiling Hour" Origin (2008) "Favorites from a Long Walk" Origin (2005), "Greta Matassa and Mimi Fox, Two for the Road" a live concert available on DVD and CD from Origin (2003), "All This and Heaven Too, Greta Matassa Live at Bake’s Place" on Origin Records.
Her rapport with an audience, lively, spontaneous and humorous one moment and touchingly introspective the next, consistently wins praise from fans and critics alike. She has appeared on many of the areas familiar stages: Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, Tula's and Bakes Place (All three voted among the top 100 jazz clubs in the country!).
